Q1: Which version represents the standard sound?
A1: The sound with the passive driver closed is considered the standard sound. It is the reference tuning for the P8 upgrade.
Q2: How does the sound change when the passive driver is activated?
A2: Activating the passive driver adds an optional, more entertaining sound signature. It enhances symphonic music, deepens bass, and noticeably boosts impact, somewhat like a supercharged version of the IE900.
Q3: What if the adhesive on the residue-free stickers loses its stickiness?
A3: We include 10 pairs of replacement no-mark stickers in the package. If you find the stickers inconvenient, you can also use the silicone plugs interchangeably.
Q4:Does the RLC network crossover eliminate the typical BA timbre?
A4: Yes. By directly regulating each driver’s operating frequency range, the RLC network effectively suppresses resonance-induced peaks, especially in the high frequencies, allowing balanced armature drivers to deliver a smoother, more natural, electrostatic-like treble response.
Q5: Will blocking the tuning port cause ear pressure?
A5: No. Performer 8S features a dual-vent design. The bass tuning vent is for low-frequency tuning, while a separate top pressure-relief vent with internal damping balances air pressure between the shell and ear canal and also fine-tunes the bass. Since they are independent acoustic paths, blocking the tuning vent won’t increase ear pressure. It will only affect bass response.
